  2. 10 years. 10 motherfucking years quit from all forms of tobacco. It seems like both yesterday, and a lifetime ago that I finally said enough, and took back control. We all have our reasons for quitting, but if we’re not 1,000% in, if we’re not quitting for ourselves first … we’re destined for failure, eventually. For all of us in the infancy of our quits, we landed at the epiphany and its meaning by engaging with others who came before us. THEY were our role models, the ones we looked up to. Even the total assholes were still in an advanced form of quit … mentally. The gong that goes off once one realizes we’re not special, and that all the power and control comes from within ourselves is enlightening … but engaging with all forms of quit through brotherhood is the secret sauce, and contains the true freedoms. It gives asshole comments an obvious intent, but only if you embrace the driving force of QD, and the community within. Then there’s the new quits … the dudes who we get to WATCH the gong going off. There’s so many quitters that came after me here that I’m proud of, and now friends with. But fuck, in reality I didn’t do shit, none of us who came before them did … they did. We just helped keep their heads above water so that they didn’t drown and return to the can … but they are the ones that kept kicking, kept fighting for it. We are now a piece of their quit history, and we get to watch them pay it forwards and backwards. Get involved in both new & old quits … it only feeds yours. There are many reasons that I will never cave, most of them are on this site – Doc I love that quote. Seek what you desire. Quit is there for the taking. Embrace the attitudes thrown your way, good and bad, and realize it is always with intent. This is not a safe space … not when it comes to something so important. The life-rings we toss new quits only contain so much rope, so get to fucking swimming. You’ll feel better about yourself, and have ownership of your quit if you chase it down … instead of it landing on top of you. Long-winded, but proud of QD and this brotherhood of quitters. Thank you, all.
