  1. Each and every member of this community quit nicotine through the same process... quitting chewing tobacco via a support system and the accountability offered by this dip quitting forum. The foundation of the method here is accountability, and the only way to quit nicotine is to quit cold turkey. The following was written recently by a member of Quitting Dip. When you actually quit dipping, do you think you are going to "miss" it? Do you feel like dip is your friend, a constant companion? A trusted buddy who is always there for you when you need it? That lucky charm which is always with you in the good times? That kind of thinking is poison when it’s time quit dipping. We call it dip “romancing”. In order to be successful, you have to change your whole mindset. It’s not that hard, because dip romancing is all a lie. Dip isn’t your friend. It’s a parasite. It wasn’t your companion, it was an anchor you were dragging along. It wasn’t there to help any needs... except getting rid of the withdrawal symptoms it’s absence was causing in the first place.. It didn’t make the good times, the good times were in spite of it. How can you control romancing the can after you have quit dipping? Slap yourself across the face every time you think like that, if you need to. No bullshit. That will get real tired, real fast. One of our members talks about dropping down and doing 10 pushups every time he thought about having a dip after he quit dipping. It's called negative reinforcement. It discourages weak thoughts. Other methods... a strong rubber band around your wrist. When you think about chew, you snap that rubber band so hard it hurts. I used to stop whatever I was doing and audibly say "Shut the fuck up". Some guys who have quit chewing tobacco recommended putting your balls in a drawer and slamming it shut. I never tried that one. But how can you spend time here, on a website that is all about how to quit dipping, without thinking about dipping? I have this browser open on my computer all day, and I never think about dipping. I think about quitting. They are different things. Guys who think about dipping act like they are missing out when they quit chewing tobacco, and they are going to fail. Guys who think about quitting think about the feelings that drove them to quit in the first place. The misery, the shame, the fear, the anxiety, the desperation, the guilt, and the hatred. THE ONLY WAY TO QUIT DIPPING IS TO QUIT COLD TURKEY. And the only way to quit cold turkey, as far as the membership here is concerned, is to find a bunch of dudes who already quit this shit, and follow their lead. But what do we know... we're all just quit, and you're not. You are likely to be here after hundreds of aborted mini-attempts to "kick the habit". Here's the key. You can't use nicotine replacement products to quit nicotine. No vaping. No nicotine lozenges. No nicotine gum. Why not? Because you can't quit nicotine by using a different form of nicotine. How easy is it to quit dipping? Quitting dip is a lot easier than you think. If you follow the well worn path by the members here who are quit. Once the withdrawal symptoms of are over, (and yes, they suck but they are manageable), it becomes a mind game, and we know all the ways to win. The foundation of t he method here is accountability, and the only way to quit chewing tobacco is to quit cold turkey. The following was written recently by a member of Quitting Dip . Welcome to Quitting Dip. It's pretty simple, we quit dipping one day at a time, we make that promise to quit chewing tobacco to ourselves and our fellow addicts first thing each day, and we keep our word. Things are going to suck for a while, but you don't need to worry about that. You need to worry about today. Above all we are honest here and men of our word. Trust is paramount. We call this first few days of quitting dip and the withdrawl symptoms of cold turkey “the suck”, because, well, it sucks. You probably really need to consider telling the wife, because you are probably going to demonstrate some signs of nicotine withdrawal and she needs to know why. That said, in deciding to quit dipping, you've made the best decision of your life. Prepare by planning on drinking plenty of water to flush out the nicotine, and consider exercising to power through the worst parts. Find something to do with your mouth… many have found success with gum, sunflower seeds, hard candy and even fake chew (contains no nicotine). Not a big fan of that myself but it is a personal decision. We are 100% nicotine free and don't practice replacement therapy. You should find yourself on this forum a lot. Reach out to your bros here and read all the information you can. Rage here and express your frustration and don't take it out on your family. We all know what you are going through....we've all been there and we all made it through. You can too. It will get better. THE ONLY WAY TO QUIT DIPPING IS TO QUIT COLD TURKEY. The foundation of the method here is accountability, and the only way to quit chewing tobacco is to quit cold turkey. The following was written recently by a member of Quitting Dip. Was walking with my wife through the Target parking lot the other day while we were buying shit for the house, and I got pretty pissed stepping over a dip pouch someone tossed on the ground. Spontaneously, I told my wife how thankful I was to be going on four years since I quit dipping and not going on four additional years of lying and giving in to the addiction at every opportunity. This isn’t something we talk about often, or ever really, as it had been a sore spot in the past. “It” being me lying and “ninja dipping” for years. Was also discussing feeling embarrassed needing to get reminders to post scroll twice in 2019 (thanks Owl and 8meds). I think me admitting that to her made her “get it” even more. That I care about quitting dip because it affects my real life. How no matter the excuse for posting late, that excuse would not have kept me from ensuring I had enough cans for the day. It’s the nature of nicotine addiction. There was no “forgetting” to dip because of my responsibilities. Want to guess where I was when my wife went into the final stages of labor with our first son? If you guessed secretly dipping in a quiet part of the hospital, you’d be correct. There was no popping in the first dip of the day at 1:00 PM because of aberrations in my daily routine. If I was traveling somewhere where it was difficult to buy dip (like a cruise), I would have researched a contingency plan to ensure there was a way to use and avoid any gaps in addiction-feeding. Would I go through the same lengths to ensure I post my daily promise while camping in a rural area? Yes. Yes, I would and I will. I am not going to allow myself to excuse or rationalize behavior that demeans and shits on quit. Think you would have ever experienced complacency in your addiction? Wake, piss, post to scroll to show that you have quit dipping. Once that promise is made, there is no option to use any form of nicotine ... period. Do it early every damn day without fail. Will power is POWER. Bowing to your "nicotine cravings" is weakness. Choose power over weakness. Embrace the fact you have quit chewing tobacco.. Use your scroll post as daily affirmation that you ARE quit. It's an old saying, "The road to quit is littered with the bodies of the weak". Take charge, quit chewing tobacco, and burn the boats… and your legacy won't be one of a failure, a body strewn along the road to quit. Alternatively, you'll take your ball and leave; making excuses about work, family, stress, or any other useless reason that people use to justify failure ...just like other weak bodies before you. Your choice. Quit dipping. THE ONLY WAY TO QUIT DIPPING IS TO QUIT COLD TURKEY. Before I quit chewing tobacco, I dipped for 22 years and by the end was completely controlled by nicotine, desperately looking for a way to quit dipping. I found this place and found that making a promise 1st thing every day that I wasn't going to dip each day was- and is- the only way I would be able to quit chewing tobacco. Take the option off the table every day with your word. Keep your word and repeat. THE ONLY WAY TO QUIT DIPPING IS TO QUIT COLD TURKEY. The foundation of the method here is accountability, and the only way to quit nicotine is to quit cold turkey. The following was written recently by a member of Quitting Dip. Can't tell y’all how pissed I am that I allowed nicotine to control my life for so long before I quit dipping. My mental and athletic performance suffered, my job performance suffered. Everything suffered, it was a mess. When I had my first child, before I quit chewing tobacco, the addiction detracted from my time with her. Instead of enjoying the moment, I'd look forward to her nap so that I could pop a dip in. Quitting dipping has made me a stronger, smarter, more resilient person. Now that I have proven to myself that I can quit dipping, I can confidently act to improve other areas of my life. I want to make better choices in everything I do moving forward. If it's not helping me with my goals, I shouldn't be doing it. If its a negative person or behavior, I shouldn't be associating with it. Quitting chewing tobacco would not be possible without support and brotherhood. Posting scroll was the cornerstone of my cold turkey nicotine quit, but the interaction with positive, like minded people is what keeps me coming back. Wake up, piss, post scroll, and interact. That's a solid formula to win right there. I only have so much time in this life, I'm proud of my decision to do it nicotine free. THE ONLY WAY TO QUIT DIPPING IS TO QUIT COLD TURKEY. There are two parts to this website. First is the serious, no nonsense portion - your pledge to quit chewing tobacco. This part of Quitting Dip is relentless, intense, and often unforgiving… but a daily promise is a method proven to work effectively to quit dipping. The second part of this site is a juvenile frat house to which you become entitled to participate as a member of the community should you so choose. Quitting chewing tobacco is the only portion that is necessary - you MUST log in everyday and make your promise to the rest of us that you will quit dipping that day. Break that promise, or refuse to be held accountable, and you won't be here long. The second part is gratuitous; feel free to ignore it. But I can assure you that if you are engaged regularly with the baddest of the bad ass quitters on here, your nicotine quit will be stronger. THE ONLY WAY TO QUIT DIPPING IS TO QUIT COLD TURKEY. You have realized that treating an addiction to dip like a bad habit doesn't work. To quit dipping you have to treat the addiction like an addiction. You know you have to quit chewing tobacco, but you don't know yet that you can live every day without it. That is what it means to truly quit dipping. In time we'll teach you everything you need to know to be able to 100% say that you will never again use nicotine in any form...ever. Today, let's focus on posting a day 1 on scroll, and then through the couple of hours. THE ONLY WAY TO QUIT DIPPING IS TO QUIT COLD TURKEY. Brotherhood and accountability has freed me from nearly a quarter century of slavery to nicotine before I quit chewing. Time slipped by me like a fart in the wind. I pissed away my prime years so I could sneak away to shovel dog crap into my mouth and my face. I missed out on girls, friends, education, love, careers, travel, and opportunities of a lifetime so that I could sit in my car or on a fucking toilet to needlessly suckle tobacco, before I quit dipping. Lesson learned. No more. I quit chewing thanks to my brothers in quit. I will always be thankful and always respectful of the key things that led me to my quitting dipping. Posting to the scroll, asking for support to help quit dipping, supporting others in their quest to quit chewing tobacco, and forging brotherhood. Thank you my brothers. Please count on me being here with you. Together, and every damn day, we will continue to fight to keep our freedom from nicotine. Failure is not an option. Quit Dip. The foundation of the method here is accountability, and the only way to quit nicotine is to quit cold turkey. The following was written recently by a member of Quitting Dip. Last week I looked out my hotel window and saw a woman standing in the street smoking. Just standing there, one arm folded across her stomach, the other holding her cigarette. So sad. So alone. So trapped. Such a waste. Addiction is not a fucking disease. I know it's a disease in the strictest definition of the word, but it's not like Malaria or MS. You decide to put that shit in your body every time. Calling it a disease lets people off the hook. Addiction is serious, it's crippling, it's lethal, but every hit is a choice. I know how politically incorrect that statement is, but I couldn't BECOME QUIT until you dudes helped me understand that ain't nobody gonna help me but me. Addiction is a crisis of character. It's a vacuum of valor. I still remember when that light bulb went off: just stop being such a goddamn pussy and QUIT, BITCH. QUIT HARD. That mindset has changed me. It's changed me as a man, husband, father, boss, son, brother. I own every minute of every day. I chose to be strong. I chose to be quit - and being quit means so much more than just not using nicotine. But that's my foundation, my rock every morning - wake, piss, post, commence utter domination. If I can quit dip, I can do anything. THE ONLY WAY TO QUIT DIPPING IS TO QUIT COLD TURKEY. 11. The members here quit nicotine through the same process, quitting chewing tobacco via the accountability offered by this website, and quitting cold turkey. The following was written recently by a member of QuittingDip.com When I put my name on the scroll for the first time I was all in. I just didn't know it for a few days. Once I found my resolve I was all in. 29 years of being a sneaky ass addict was enough for me and I had arrived at my last option cause all the other ways failed me, by allowing me to keep putting the drug in my body. I don't know if its possible to express the concept of quit to a person but here goes. This is my life. I've got people in my life that care about me and I care about my own health now. I'm not gonna let nicotine take that away. I have posted my promise every single fucking day since day 1. Why? Cause it matters to me and it takes nothing to make that promise except integrity. It was a big deal for me because this concept of quit based on accountability pulled my head out of my ass. I made it 3 days, then 3 months, a year, two. I'm not gonna fuck with it. If it was all just as simple as not putting the stuff in our faces anymore we wouldn't need to be here. Quit isn't just quit. Its an attitude and resolve that orbits our integrity. Without those two things how can a person expect to succeed after all the past failure? THE ONLY WAY TO QUIT DIPPING IS TO QUIT COLD TURKEY. You might not be ready to hear that, but you wouldn't be reading this if you didn't already know it. You are likely to be here after hundreds of aborted mini-attempts to "kick the habit". You can't quit halfway. You also can't use nicotine replacement products. No vaping. No nicotine lozenges. No nicotine gum. Why not? Because you can't quit nicotine by using a different form of nicotine. When you are in the cycle of being desperate to quit, but terrified of quitting, everything can seem overwhelming. 12. The members here quit nicotine through the same process, quitting chewing tobacco via the accountability offered by this website, and quitting cold turkey. The following was written today by a member of QuittingDip.com One of the biggest reasons my quit came to be was me asking myself the question, “why are you doing this?”. It’s a question I was unable to answer, and at the same time I found it much easier to answer the question “why wouldn’t you do this?”. The reasons for not dipping pile up easily. I’ll start off as a salesman for quitting dip: Do you enjoy not having cancer? Do you like falling asleep easily and waking up rested? Do you like having extra pocket money? Do you like not having to hide spit cans and brown teeth from your loved ones? I could go on, but you get the point. Likely, you’ve reasoned all of these in your mind before. You know that logically you shouldn’t continue this practice, yet, for some reason, you continue. Why? Why keep dipping if you know there is literally no good reason to continue? The answer is simple: you aren’t taking control of the decision. You’ve allowed the reasonable part of you to take a back seat while the dumbass part of you drives the car. It’s time to take back the wheel. One of the most liberating moments I had was the moment when I decided to quit. I took a full can of dip, I dumped it in the toilet, and watched it all go down the drain. I would highly recommend this. You will be surprised at how hard it is to dump that can, but once you do a feeling of power and control will wash over you. After that, take it one day at a time. Don’t think about being quit 4 years from now, think about making it to next week. Once you’re at next week, think about making it to the next month. Before you know it, you won’t even be thinking about dip. Use this website as a tool to aid your quit. Post scroll in the Plebe Quit Scroll every morning. Get involved. Writing posts about how strong your quit is will strengthen your quit and resolve to keep your daily promise. You can do it, you can get rid of the addiction. Dump that can in the toilet, post scroll, and start the next chapter of your clean and free life. 13. Everything that appears in this daily blog was written by a member of QuittingDip.com, (QD). Every member here has quit nicotine through the same process, quitting chewing tobacco via the accountability offered by this website, and quitting cold turkey. [the following is an excerpt from a "quit speech"] My addition story is not unique. I was ninja dipper. I dipped pretty much anytime I was alone - driving, hunting, fishing, working, ect. I would make excuses to get away from my family so I could dip. I was a dipshit. I never thought I was addicted because I would rationalize that "I don't dip that much" and "I can quit whenever I want" and "most people don't even know that I dip so I am obviously not addicted". Then I tried to quit and couldn't. I struggled for a long time with various stoppages. Then I found the people here and learned how to quit. For me it was never about the physical withdrawals, my battles to quit would be on the mental side. The first months were hell and I will never forget. But, every day further away from day 1 gets better and better. THE ONLY WAY TO QUIT DIPPING IS TO QUIT COLD TURKEY. You might not be ready to hear that, but you wouldn't be reading this if you didn't already know it. You are likely to be here after hundreds of aborted mini-attempts to "kick the habit". 14. Stop thinking about it, and do it. The premise here is simple, post your daily promise to quit dip, and your number of days quit. Make it 24 hours, and do it again. Interact with the folks here … we’re all from different walks of life, yet we’re all the same. Ex-tobacco users. Soon the days will turn into weeks, months. Just remember to start your day with that little quit pill … your daily promise. Before you know it, that dude who used to shove cat-turds in his lower lip is in your rear-view mirror … and getting smaller all the time. Post up a day one, and throw that tin of death in the crapper. Flush it, so it won’t sing that siren-song and suck you back in. You wouldn’t even be reading this if you weren’t thinking of quitting chewing tobacco. Reach down, find your marbles … and get after it. Stop letting some damn plant run your life, while running you into the ground. Dipping your toe in to test the waters isn’t the approach of a committed quitter. Frickin’ cannonball into this quit from chew. YOU CAN DO IT, you just need to take that first step. THE ONLY WAY TO QUIT DIPPING IS TO QUIT COLD TURKEY. You might not be ready to hear that, but you wouldn't be reading this if you didn't already know it. You are likely to be here after hundreds of aborted mini-attempts to "kick the habit". 15. Throwback Thursday Back when I was a slave to the can, wouldn’t leave the house without that weed, planning trips, outings, shopping at the grocery store.....all centered around whether or not I had to go out of the way, across town to the one convenience store that i knew had the freshest cans. So much wasted time and energy. Back when I was a slave to the can, there were times I’d have to dig between the couch cushions, under the car seats & there were times I actually had to borrow money out of my kids piggy bank to buy more dip. 20+ years of dipping at increasing prices. So much wasted cash. Back when I was a slave to the can, every tooth ache, canker sore & sore throat was terrifying. Was it Cancer? Did my bad decisions finally catch up? I’d stop for a few days until things cleared up, then the master would demand more time & money from me..... Then I woke the fuck up. I didn’t want to live scared of self imposed cancer. I wanted to QUIT dipping forever, not just stop. I wanted to QUIT. I found QuittingDip.com and realized I had been going about quitting tobacco all wrong. Cold Turkey is the only way that works with brotherhood and accountability. My quit number is a badge of honor to me. Posting my promise not to use nicotine every morning is a privilege. Having these brothers and sisters supporting me is a privilege. You can quit your addiction to nicotine and tobacco forever. Join, log in & post your promise today. And tomorrow. And forever. Leave being a slave in the past. Give that poinsonous weed the finger & see how much better life is when you’re free. THE ONLY WAY TO QUIT DIPPING IS TO QUIT COLD TURKEY. You might not be ready to hear that, but you wouldn't be reading this if you didn't already know it. You are likely to be here after hundreds of aborted mini-attempts to "kick the habit". 16. It's hump day. That's a fine day to learn how to quit dipping. Just a few days to go before the weekend. If you're still dipping you might be thinking, I just need to make it through this work week, and I will quit chew on the weekend. But then this weekend, maybe you'll be thinking that quitting on the weekend will ruin your time off. I don't want to experience the symptoms of quitting dip on an off day. There is always an excuse, and the withdrawal symptoms after you quit will always be the same. Unlike what you've convinced yourself, tomorrow is not the best day to start quitting. Today is. 17. The point of this blog is to find the individual that has been mired in the quagmire of nicotine addiction, and doesn't think there is a way out. There is no real urgency to quit dipping.... except for the fact that every rational part of your brain has been screaming to quit. And the addiction keeps winning. We all know that "just one more" plug of chewing tobacco is not going to give you cancer.... finishing that can you bought in the morning is not going to make a difference... except that we all know that eventually tobacco use causes cancer. You conveniently don't think about it often. But it's the only thing you think about when you have a sore on your lip from dipping, or notice that your gums are looking especially gray this morning. A member here recently stated, "when I found this place, I was at my wits end. I was willing to do anything to quit". But it takes a long time for a real addict to realize how important quitting is. Some longer than others. Some members here dipped for 30+ years. Some members aren't even 30 years old. The guys who belong here are those who really want to quit, and have come to realize that all other methods for quitting dip are useless... THE ONLY WAY TO QUIT DIPPING IS TO QUIT COLD TURKEY. You might not be ready to hear that, but you wouldn't be reading this if you didn't already know it. You are likely to be here after hundreds of aborted mini-attempts to "kick the habit". 18. Quitting Dip Honor Code 1. Post Your Promise to the Quit Dipping Scroll Every Morning When you wake up in the morning, post your promise to quit dipping that day. Doing it first thing gets you in the routine of quitting dipping, instead of the routine of craving. This Quitting Dip support group is in different states, different time zones, and different countries, so "morning" where YOU are may be earlier or later than others. Just don't endanger your ability to quit dipping by treating this process casually, and don't disrespect the brotherhood by being late, just be on 'first thing'. 2. Keep Your Promise to Quit Dipping Throughout the Day We have quit dipping. We make a promise not to use nicotine and we keep it, every day. We all keep that promise, whether on Day 1 or Day 1,000 and beyond. You might have more nicotine withdrawal on Day 3 than you do on Day 300, but it's no harder to keep your word. You are not special. Be Quit or Fuck Off. 3. Repeat Every Day It really is that simple.

The system of quitting dipping is based on participation and integrity. Those that make their daily promise and keep their word to quit dipping are a valued part of this site. Everyone is welcome to quit dipping with us here, with a few exceptions. Those that do not make their daily promise will not be a part of this quitting dip support group. 23. Most of the quitters here started out on the outside looking in, wavering between wondering if this could work and retreating back into the supposed 'comfort' of continuing to dip for "just a little longer". Sometimes these Undecided guys sack up and become quitters, putting their name on the scroll every day. Sometimes they just start an intro and get a lot of advice but are still too scared to make the leap. Some of that advice to recent new guys who disappeared has been relocated from the private intro section to this public thread to help other potential quitters, because you will find that all of us had the same questions, the same concerns, and all need to do the same thing- QUIT DIPPING. Whether you are an undecided new member who is taking time and reading on the site, a 'looky-loo' guest who has been bouncing around for a while, or a guest visiting for the first time - you may find something below that might hit home for you. If you have questions that might help you decide, feel free to post them here. Guests can post without signing in.
