Damn Fine Flicks

Also watched Tolkien on return flight. An entertaining filler for a couple hours on a flight. Hollywood treatment of a life I knew nothing about prior to the movie but enjoyable.

The “double tap” made me think this was a sequel and not having seen the single tap I didn’t want to miss out on any important plot lines.

Wise choice.  It was in fact, a sequel

It's fine we're all already dead from WWIII. Or is that news cycle over? Really can't keep up with what's supposed to be killing me this week.

15 legs so far this year.  Feeling great.  Not stoked about flying into LAX next week, but not because of viruses.

It was stupid as fuck, but several funny parts by some actors I like,  Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, Luke Wilson, and of course...

The first Zombieland was fucking awesome, and I totally thought it was going to suck going into it. I haven't caught the second one yet. How was it @Napa?

If you liked the first one,  you will enjoy the sequel.  They didn't break any new ground, just kinda kept the same jokes and fun going.

Saw Parasite yesterday.  I liked it, Interesting, definitely different.  Didn’t feel like a best picture but I don’t think the competition was too tough this year.  After 10 minutes I didn’t even realize I was reading subtitles.

Btw: I’m not a huge movie/tv guy so there’s probably 100’s of movies that you guys have all seen that I have not.

ie: die hard, pulp fiction, shawshank, reservoir dogs etc etc

Why are you mentioning these if you haven't seen them. Fake news.

Cause usually when people hear I haven’t seen “whatever” movie they say have you seen x,y,z.
those are ones that have been brought up the most, I have a list of movies people recommend.

Well I just found out who Keanu Reeves is so I figured I’d watch it first. Think reservoir dogs or shawshank will be next

Loved both of those when they came out. Since it sounds like you know this well, I won't tell you you're an idiot for not having seen them sooner.

I had to check it out because I enjoy Wahlberg films. Definitely a good flick to watch if you need something to watch. I thought the soundtrack was pretty good. If they made a second film or turned into a tv show i would make time to watch it

The bathroom scene with the crazy bitch followed immediately by the backyard fight with a crazy bitch was fucking hilarious.

Those people don't live in Boston anymore, cant afford it. That's why it's set in a vaguely 80s time period. But it's fun to laugh at the stereotype

It's not set in the 80s bruh.

They were mma fighters, had digital surveillance cameras, and discussed clouds. That was a funny line on clouds.

Haha. I enjoyed how tactical the gang was in killing those two cops. But when it came to Wahlberg they just let him just do whatever he wanted with no repercussions until the ending.

And yet every character was an 80s stereotype.

Kid and I justed watched the original Point Break. Action kicks ass. Acting not so much. Not sure if I wanna watch the remake. He was into it.

I think we will do the Pat Bateman Batman trilogy followed by Battle Royale next.

The bad acting is what made it fun! I refuse to watch the dogshit remake. Learned my lesson with Total Recall.

I thoroughly enjoyed it (but then, I'm a history nerd). The movie looked like it was all one continuous shot. Pretty cool.

It was really cool. And zero story. In between cool war special effects it was brutally boring.

I read a few reviews claiming 1917 was as good a war film as Saving Private Ryan.  Needless to say, I was disappointed.  Wife said she thought it was good because she knew nothing about WWI and found the trench warfare unbelievable and brutal.  I told her it was unbelievable to me that women are allowed to vote, own property or make eye contact with a man.

Visually appealing movie though.  Not too many WWI movies out there.

It was very appealing visually and a terrible movie. Planet earth is appealing visually, but the story sucks.

I must have seen Josey Wales 30 times. It was  on network TV once or twice a year when I was a growing up. Here's one of the lines that always stuck with me...
