  1. “Quit” is an attitude change that won't take long to manifest itself - after you quit dipping and prove to yourself that you’ve got the balls to make it through the discomfort of some withdrawals without running back to the “one pinch at a time” cancer addiction. This is the time and the place that you will succeed and quit dipping. We support you but we cant do it for you. I never intend to go through what you are going through again and I won't. You won't have to either. Man I'm going through some shit at work so... Going through a divorce so... Going through a custody battle because I want to move so... Finally get to move and I'm going through the stress of buying and selling a house so... So fuck nicotine! And fuck anyone who thinks that their life circumstances are an excuse for dip or any other addiction. Handle your shit and stop being a pussy. Life happens and it ain't so bad (even the low points) when you're not busy feeling sorry for yourself and blaming everyone and everything else for your problems. THE TIME TO QUIT DIPPING IS RIGHT NOW. And the only method for quitting dipping that any of us have ever found to work is quitting cold turkey, with the help of other quitters. The method that we use here. If you found Quitting Dip, you’ve been struggling with nicotine for a long time. You have probably tried to quit. Perhaps you’ve even admitted to yourself that you are addicted to chewing tobacco. No matter what strategy you have employed in the past, we both know it hasn’t worked. Otherwise, you would be quit, like the rest of us. The excuses you have used in the past won’t work here. The temporary withdrawal symptoms of quitting dipping are not going to kill you. You can actually function at work and home without your “crutch” to make you “more relaxed”. Your life will improve dramatically once you quit dipping. You might remember stopping for a few weeks, and you have an idea that it was hell 'because you had quit'. It was hell because you didn’t know how to quit until now. We’ll change your mindset, and we will lay out the timeline of quitting nicotine. The only thing that you need to do to participate in a 100% effective method of quitting dipping is to show up here every day, follow the advice of the members, and follow the only two rules we have here.... Post your promise not to dip every morning, and keep your word. If you are ready to quit dipping, post up on the Plebe Scroll. Otherwise, visit the support center, or read some speeches.
  2. Welcome...... But that welcome comes with a condition - When you’re ready to quit dipping, post your day 1 on the Plebe scroll… dump your can… go to the fridge and dump the remainder of your roll… go out to your garage/car/desk at work and dump your emergency cans.....get rid of it all. Because when you post your day 1, there is no going back, and if you follow the advice here, you won’t want to dip anymore. Hell, you don’t WANT to dip anymore already, or you wouldn’t be here. You think you can’t live without dip, but we’re all here to tell you that not only is quitting dip possible, quitting dipping is the greatest thing you’ll ever do for yourself. After you post your day 1 today - hang on until tomorrow morning and then you will post your day 2 .... then you’re on you’re way to being a quitter ... you will come here every morning and post scroll - you do that not out of a requirement for this site, but as a promise to yourself that you will not put that shit in your mouth for that day....fight through that day and repeat the next.... you will continue to do that until you gain the upper hand on your addiction. What we offer here is brotherhood and accountability - if that is what you’re looking for - you have come to the right place..... You might think that you don’t have the will power, but if it were all about will power, none of us would have needed this site to quit dipping. However, if your unable to make a commitment, if you can not keep a promise, if you possess thin skin - then this is not the place for you…So, decide… do you want to quit dipping? Do you want to be free, or be a slave? Post your name and day 1 on the Plebe scroll .... once you do that you'll have the full power of this site working for you.
  3. Brotherhood and accountability has freed me from nearly a quarter century of slavery to nicotine before I found help with Quitting Dip. Time slipped by me like a fart in the wind. I pissed away my prime years so I could sneak away to shovel dog crap into my mouth and my face. I missed out on girls, friends, education, love, careers, travel, and opportunities of a lifetime so that I could sit in my car or on a fucking toilet to needlessly suckle tobacco, before I quit dipping. Lesson learned. No more. I quit chewing thanks to my brothers in quit. I will always be thankful and always respectful of the key things that led me to my quitting dipping. Posting to the scroll, asking for support to help quit dipping, supporting others in their quest to quit chewing tobacco, and forging brotherhood. Thank you my brothers. Please count on me being here with you. Together, and every damn day, we will continue to fight to keep our freedom from nicotine. Failure is not an option. Quit Dip. 4. Okay... remember when we were new to quitting dip? Remember when we didn't think it would be possible to quit dipping? Like "how could posting a number on a website actually work where everything other known method of quitting chewing tobacco has failed me for years or decades?". The method we preach here seems like an illusion, a con. There's no way it could work. Then IT FUCKING WORKS, and quitting seems so easy. And then all of a sudden, as the quitting dip timeline moves forward, some dudes think maybe they don't need the thing that got them quit, because quitting dip is soooo easy, right? Like, you would have gotten quit on your own, this website is just like a little shortcut, and quitting was inevitable... How can anyone be this stupid? Seriously, how fucking stupid is this? Whatever. I'll be here. New guys reading this and wondering whether this is real, this really works. THE ONLY WAY TO QUIT DIPPING IS TO QUIT COLD TURKEY. And the only way to quit cold turkey, as far as the membership here is concerned, is to find a bunch of dudes who already quit this shit, and follow their lead. But what do we know... we're all just quit, and you're not. You are likely to be here after hundreds of aborted mini-attempts to "kick the habit". Here's the key. You can't use nicotine replacement products to quit nicotine. No vaping. No nicotine lozenges. No nicotine gum. Why not? Because you can't quit nicotine by using a different form of nicotine. How easy is it to quit dipping? Quitting dip is a lot easier than you think. If you follow the well worn path by the members here who are quit. Once the withdrawal symptoms of are over, (and yes, they suck but they are manageable), it becomes a mind game, and we know all the ways to win. If you are ready to quit, the best way is to join this site, and start posting. If you think that quitting dip is impossible, then you're in the right place. If you wonder whether you really need to quit chewing, you're not ready. Guests can read some "speeches" of dudes who have been in your shoes. If you're just about ready to pull the trigger but you're scared, stop being a pussy. There is a section in the support center full of posts encouraging guys like you to get in the game. Once you sign up you can start an introduction where you can tell the other members about yourself, or just get right to it and put your screen name and "Day 1" on the "Quit Scroll" with today's date. The bottom line is that if you throw up a post somewhere, guys here will try to help you. But you have to help yourself first.
  5. Each and every member of this community quit nicotine through the same process... quitting chewing tobacco via a support system and the accountability offered by this dip quitting forum. The foundation of the method here is accountability, and the only way to quit nicotine is to quit cold turkey. The following was written recently by a member of Quitting Dip. You have realized that treating an addiction to dip like a bad habit doesn't work. To quit dipping you have to treat the addiction like an addiction. You know you have to quit chewing tobacco, but you don't know yet that you can live every day without it. That is what it means to truly quit dipping. In time we'll teach you everything you need to know to be able to 100% say that you will never again use nicotine in any form...ever. Today, let's focus on posting a day 1 on scroll, and then through the couple of hours. 6. Can't tell y’all how pissed I am that I allowed nicotine to control my life for so long before I quit dipping. My mental and athletic performance suffered, my job performance suffered. Everything suffered, it was a mess. When I had my first child, before I quit chewing tobacco, the addiction detracted from my time with her. Instead of enjoying the moment, I'd look forward to her nap so that I could pop a dip in. Quitting dipping has made me a stronger, smarter, more resilient person. Now that I have proven to myself that I can quit dipping, I can confidently act to improve other areas of my life. I want to make better choices in everything I do moving forward. If it's not helping me with my goals, I shouldn't be doing it. If its a negative person or behavior, I shouldn't be associating with it. Quitting chewing tobacco would not be possible without support and brotherhood. Posting scroll was the cornerstone of my cold turkey nicotine quit, but the interaction with positive, like minded people is what keeps me coming back. Wake up, piss, post scroll, and interact. That's a solid formula to win right there. I only have so much time in this life, I'm proud of my decision to do it nicotine free. THE ONLY WAY TO QUIT DIPPING IS TO QUIT COLD TURKEY. And the only way to quit cold turkey, as far as the membership here is concerned, is to find a bunch of dudes who already quit this shit, and follow their lead. 7. If you have yet to quit dipping you might be thinking, “I just need to make it through this work week, and I’ll quit chew on the weekend”. But inevitably, this weekend, you'll be thinking that quitting dip away from work will ruin your weekend. “Who wants to deal with withdrawal symptoms while I’m off?” There is always an excuse to keep using, and they’re all stupid. “I have a stressful family thing next week, gotta be chewing then. There’s a golf outing with my boys next month, no reason to quit before then. I’ll quit as soon as I get through this phase where my kids are in diapers.” These are the excuses given by people who are addicted to nicotine, and everyone here knows that because we all used to use them. It was hiding the fact that we were scared to quit, and rationalizing the continued use of a drug that was killing us. Not only are all the excuses dumb, because dip doesn’t help you do anything, it is not a magic potion to allow you to survive stress, it is often a source of stress, and does nothing to help you deal with life. The inevitable withdrawal symptoms from quitting dip will always be the same, regardless of whether it’s that time of the month, bitch. They’re bad for a few days, but not that bad. They are manageable. Unlike what you've convinced yourself, tomorrow is not the best day to start quitting. Today is. THE ONLY WAY TO QUIT DIPPING IS TO QUIT COLD TURKEY. You might not be ready to hear that, but you wouldn't be reading this if you didn't already know it. You are likely to be here after hundreds of aborted mini-attempts to "kick the habit". You can't quit halfway. You also can't use nicotine replacement products. No vaping. No nicotine lozenges. No nicotine gum. Why not? Because you can't quit nicotine by using a different form of nicotine. When you are in the cycle of being desperate to quit, but terrified of quitting, everything can seem overwhelming. Quitting dip is a lot easier than you think. It is all a mind game, and we know all the ways to win. 8. The members here quit nicotine through the same process, quitting chewing tobacco via the accountability offered by this website, and quitting cold turkey. The following was written today by a member of QuittingDip.com One of the biggest reasons my quit came to be was me asking myself the question, “why are you doing this?”. It’s a question I was unable to answer, and at the same time I found it much easier to answer the question “why wouldn’t you do this?”. The reasons for not dipping pile up easily. I’ll start off as a salesman for quitting dip: Do you enjoy not having cancer? Do you like falling asleep easily and waking up rested? Do you like having extra pocket money? Do you like not having to hide spit cans and brown teeth from your loved ones? I could go on, but you get the point. Likely, you’ve reasoned all of these in your mind before. You know that logically you shouldn’t continue this practice, yet, for some reason, you continue. Why? Why keep dipping if you know there is literally no good reason to continue? The answer is simple: you aren’t taking control of the decision. You’ve allowed the reasonable part of you to take a back seat while the dumbass part of you drives the car. It’s time to take back the wheel. One of the most liberating moments I had was the moment when I decided to quit. I took a full can of dip, I dumped it in the toilet, and watched it all go down the drain. I would highly recommend this. You will be surprised at how hard it is to dump that can, but once you do a feeling of power and control will wash over you. After that, take it one day at a time. Don’t think about being quit 4 years from now, think about making it to next week. Once you’re at next week, think about making it to the next month. Before you know it, you won’t even be thinking about dip. Use this website as a tool to aid your quit. Post scroll in the Plebe Quit Scroll every morning. Get involved. Writing posts about how strong your quit is will strengthen your quit and resolve to keep your daily promise. You can do it, you can get rid of the addiction. Dump that can in the toilet, post scroll, and start the next chapter of your clean and free life. THE ONLY WAY TO QUIT DIPPING IS TO QUIT COLD TURKEY. You might not be ready to hear that, but you wouldn't be reading this if you didn't already know it. You are likely to be here after hundreds of aborted mini-attempts to "kick the habit". 9. Everything that appears in this daily blog was written by a member of QuittingDip.com, (QD). Every member here has quit nicotine through the same process, quitting chewing tobacco via the accountability offered by this website, and quitting cold turkey. [the following is an excerpt from a "quit speech"] My addiction story is not unique. I was ninja dipper. I dipped pretty much anytime I was alone - driving, hunting, fishing, working, ect. I would make excuses to get away from my family so I could dip. I was a dipshit. I never thought I was addicted because I would rationalize that "I don't dip that much" and "I can quit whenever I want" and "most people don't even know that I dip so I am obviously not addicted". Then I tried to quit and couldn't. I struggled for a long time with various stoppages. Then I found the people here and learned how to quit. For me it was never about the physical withdrawals, my battles to quit would be on the mental side. The first months were hell and I will never forget. But, every day further away from day 1 gets better and better. THE ONLY WAY TO QUIT DIPPING IS TO QUIT COLD TURKEY. You might not be ready to hear that, but you wouldn't be reading this if you didn't already know it. You are likely to be here after hundreds of aborted mini-attempts to "kick the habit". 10. Stop thinking about it, and do it. The premise here is simple, post your daily promise to quit dip, and your number of days quit. Make it 24 hours, and do it again. Interact with the folks here … we’re all from different walks of life, yet we’re all the same. Ex-tobacco users. Soon the days will turn into weeks, months. Just remember to start your day with that little quit pill … your daily promise. Before you know it, that dude who used to shove cat-turds in his lower lip is in your rear-view mirror … and getting smaller all the time. Post up a day one, and throw that tin of death in the crapper. Flush it, so it won’t sing that siren-song and suck you back in. You wouldn’t even be reading this if you weren’t thinking of quitting chewing tobacco. Reach down, find your marbles … and get after it. Stop letting some damn plant run your life, while running you into the ground. Dipping your toe in to test the waters isn’t the approach of a committed quitter. Frickin’ cannonball into this quit from chew. YOU CAN DO IT, you just need to take that first step. THE ONLY WAY TO QUIT DIPPING IS TO QUIT COLD TURKEY. You might not be ready to hear that, but you wouldn't be reading this if you didn't already know it. You are likely to be here after hundreds of aborted mini-attempts to "kick the habit". 11. The point of this blog is to find the individual that has been mired in the quagmire of nicotine addiction, and doesn't think there is a way out. There is no real urgency to quit dipping.... except for the fact that every rational part of your brain has been screaming to quit. And the addiction keeps winning. We all know that "just one more" plug of chewing tobacco is not going to give you cancer.... finishing that can you bought in the morning is not going to make a difference... except that we all know that eventually tobacco use causes cancer. You conveniently don't think about it often. But it's the only thing you think about when you have a sore on your lip from dipping, or notice that your gums are looking especially gray this morning. A member here recently stated, "when I found this place, I was at my wits end. I was willing to do anything to quit". But it takes a long time for a real addict to realize how important quitting is. Some longer than others. Some members here dipped for 30+ years. Some members aren't even 30 years old. The guys who belong here are those who really want to quit, and have come to realize that all other methods for quitting dip are useless... THE ONLY WAY TO QUIT DIPPING IS TO QUIT COLD TURKEY. You might not be ready to hear that, but you wouldn't be reading this if you didn't already know it. You are likely to be here after hundreds of aborted mini-attempts to "kick the habit". 12. Throwback Thursday Back when I was a slave to the can, wouldn’t leave the house without that weed, planning trips, outings, shopping at the grocery store.....all centered around whether or not I had to go out of the way, across town to the one convenience store that i knew had the freshest cans. So much wasted time and energy. Back when I was a slave to the can, there were times I’d have to dig between the couch cushions, under the car seats & there were times I actually had to borrow money out of my kids piggy bank to buy more dip. 20+ years of dipping at increasing prices. So much wasted cash. Back when I was a slave to the can, every tooth ache, canker sore & sore throat was terrifying. Was it Cancer? Did my bad decisions finally catch up? I’d stop for a few days until things cleared up, then the master would demand more time & money from me..... Then I woke the fuck up. I didn’t want to live scared of self imposed cancer. I wanted to QUIT dipping forever, not just stop. I wanted to QUIT. I found QuittingDip.com and realized I had been going about quitting tobacco all wrong. Cold Turkey is the only way that works with brotherhood and accountability. My quit number is a badge of honor to me. Posting my promise not to use nicotine every morning is a privilege. Having these brothers and sisters supporting me is a privilege. You can quit your addiction to nicotine and tobacco forever. Join, log in & post your promise today. And tomorrow. And forever. Leave being a slave in the past. Give that poinsonous weed the finger & see how much better life is when you’re free. THE ONLY WAY TO QUIT DIPPING IS TO QUIT COLD TURKEY. 13. I have lived the majority of my personal life with the motto- “Fuck It”. I have given up on too many diets, exercise programs, organizational goals, etc. in my life to count because I have always ended up saying "fuck it" and giving up. When I decided to quit dipping, I was finally fed up with the ever-present sack of shit weighing down my life- my nicotine addiction. I found Quitting Dip and posted scroll the next morning. I had no expectations at that point, and if I am honest with myself, I assumed that the "fuck it" would win over eventually. But the next morning, I woke up and posted again. And then I did it again the next morning. A week later I was standing in line at the gas station and looking at the dip display. I could physically feel the "fuck it" creeping up my spine. But things were different this time. I had made a promise that morning. A promise to myself that I was going to be quit. And I have kept that promise every day. The benefits of quitting dip have permeated the rest of my life. I am more organized, I am eating better, I am exercising. Once I realized I could stop being a slave to the most addictive and destructive part of my life, the other areas were easy to overcome. I am tempted to say that I have conquered the "fuck it" once and for all. But I know that's not the case. I know it is still there. It is waiting for me to become complacent. It is waiting for me to get lazy. But, I am a different person than I was before I quit dipping. I am determined. I am firm in my resolve that while the rest of my life may fall victim to the "fuck it", my quit will not. I will wake up tomorrow and make a promise to myself and to the good people of QD that I will be quit that day and every day after it. I look forward to many more scroll posts and I truly appreciate the help and support from every one of you. Because of you and the promise I make every morning, "fuck it" has forever been replaced with "fuck nicotine." “Quit” is an attitude change that won't take long to manifest itself - after you quit dipping and prove to yourself that you’ve got the balls to make it through the discomfort of some withdrawals without running back to the “one pinch at a time” cancer addiction.
  14. We are here to help you quit dipping and nothing less. This is not your standard half assed group of people that stop chewing tobacco, but then start bailing out at day 10 because they are cured, or decide that they really wanted to dip all the time, not be free of addiction. We have seen a lot of bad reasons for being here and a lot bad excuses to start again. Only the idea that you are here to save yourself, and an attitude that you hate what nicotine has done to you will lead to success. So what's it gonna be? Are you here because quitting will make other people happy? Or have you had enough of this addiction? This is the time and the place that you will succeed, but you gotta do it and we are here to celebrate your success. Planning to win? Flush your bag of addict excuses down the toilet and realize that nicotine is aimed at killing you and is not a warm fuzzy little wubby that we run back to when we have a few drinks or wanna get back at the wife. Just to clarify - it is easy to quit dipping once you get the right mindset and get past the initial withdrawal symptoms. Make your promise to quit dipping today, and keep it, and you will be looking back on a week, then a month, then a year before you know it because you have quit as of today.Take your quit seriously and we will take you seriously. The only thing that you need to do to participate in a 100% effective method of quitting dipping is to show up here every day, follow the advice of the members, and follow the only two rules we have here....Post your promise not to dip every morning, and keep your word. If you are ready to quit dipping, post up on the Plebe Scroll. Otherwise, visit the support center, or read some speeches.
  15. Before quitting dip, I dipped for 20+ years and by the end was completely controlled by nicotine, desperately looking for a way to quit dipping. I found this place and found that making a promise 1st thing every day... that I wasn't going to dip... was- and is- the only way I would be able to quit chewing tobacco. Take the option off the table every day with your word. Keep your word, and repeat. Think you can’t get through the routines of life if you quit dipping? Yeah, we all used to dip after every meal. I used to dip every time I shit too. I convinced myself I couldn't shit without it. Having a meal or needing to shit without a can in my pocket would induce panic. Guess what? Now that I have quit dipping, I can still eat and take a dump. I haven't chewed after a meal in years, and I have shit at least once a day every day for years, without dip. I enjoy my meals much more now that I am not racing through my meals to get to my dip, and I can shit much more easily now that I am not shitting three or four times a day because of the laxative I was putting in my lip all day. Or maybe it wasn’t a laxative at all. Maybe I was just forcing myself to shit that often because it gave me an excuse to sit on the toilet and dip in private. Life is much better when you are not a slave. Let go of all of that old shit and embrace the system here…Post your number, learn how to speak and live Quit, build a hatred for that controlling poison. You will honestly have to “learn” how to do some things without dip, and you’ll be very worried that they’re not possible without dip. Even an active addict like yourself has to realize that that notion is simultaneously absurd, and terrifying. Absurd because…. Of course you can take a shit without nicotine. Terrifying because… until you actually quit dipping, you will be convinced that you can’t do certain activities without it… that’s the level of control that nicotine has over you right now. You have realized that treating an addiction to dip like a bad habit, doesn't work. To quit dipping you have to treat the addiction like an addiction. You know you have to quit, but you don't know yet that you can live every day without it. That is what it means to truly quit dipping. In time we'll teach you everything you need to know to be able to 100% say that you will never again use nicotine in any form...ever. Today, let's focus on posting a day 1 on scroll, and then through the couple of hours.
  16. Why have you failed at all previous attempts to quit dipping? I know why I failed every previous attempt. I failed to quit chewing tobacco because I wasn't here. I didn’t get any help to quit dipping, and relied solely on myself. And myself was always a fucking bitch. The first thing you deal with when quitting chewing tobacco is the real physical withdrawal side, and since most people have at least halfway attempted to quit dipping in the past, you should know the routine... Withdrawal symptoms from quitting dip can include insomnia, sweating, headaches, constipation, irritability, and anxiety. How do you combat the symptoms of quitting dip? First, know that they will pass. This only lasts few days. To alleviate them, go sweat somewhere, whether its running, hitting the gym, or just walking around the block. Don’t sit around feeling sorry for yourself. Do something. But first, put your name on the quit scroll and you have accomplished the most important part of how to quit dipping, making a promise to other people and yourself. A promise to quit dipping to people that don’t accept failure and weakness. Remember this- work fucking sucks no matter what, [or they wouldn’t have to pay you], but today it is more productive than usual, because someone is paying you to go through withdrawal from dip. That's win win. Tough it out, take a walk around the block, drink lots of water. Bitch and moan here if you are feeling sorry for yourself. That's one of the fringe benefits of a quitting dip support group. We know what you’re going through, and we’ll tell you if it is normal, when you need to do something differently, or to just stop being a pussy. One of two things is inevitable for a nicotine addict, premature death or quitting. Choose quitting. Drink a lot of water, while you're sweating and after you’re done. Use substitutes like jerky chew, fake dip, hard candy, gum, and seeds. Anything without nicotine in it. Some guys would stick coffee grounds or even grass in their lip. Sleep whenever you can. Get in here and talk shit to quitters before you freak out on your family. But the biggest thing to remember is that a lot of this is mental. The reason that you make a promise every single morning, is that it makes it so that chewing tobacco is not an option. Not if you are going to keep your word. There is no reason to have a debate with yourself about dipping today. Since it is no longer an option, there is no reason to obsess about it. Think about something else. Put that promise up every morning and it's never an option.
  17. Each and every member of this community quit nicotine through the same process... quitting chewing tobacco via a support system and the accountability offered by this dip quitting forum. The foundation of the method here is accountability, and the only way to quit nicotine is to quit cold turkey. The following was written recently by a member of Quitting Dip We all were totally irrational about dipping - whether it's crawling around outside in the dark looking for the tin you "threw" away in the yard or digging through all your shorts cause you are "sure" you left a spare can in one. It does get tons better and you WILL be able to do all the things that are now major triggers for dipping. We all had a million triggers, golfing, watching sports, grilling, yard work, long drives, taking a shit. Hell I couldn't walk from here to there without my mind saying - "ok, time for some more nicotine". The only way it works though is if you post your promise first thing everyday that you won't use nicotine today. I'll do the same and you can count on that. You're not special. We were all exactly where you are right now. You will never miss dip, stop romanticizing it and start hating it. It controlled your fucking life, man. It controlled your every waking thought. Do I have enough for tonight? When can I buy another can? Did I leave my can in my house/car/drawer? When can I get away from all of these people so that I can put that stupid shit in my lip???? Once you've achieved the freedom we all have, you'll realize that everything is so much better without dip. Everything. I didn't think I could ever take a long drive again either, now I hate the pussy that even thought that. Stop sounding like you're mourning the loss of your dog. Stop anthropomorphizing it at all. It's a weed. You are claiming victory over a shitty addiction that made you a gigantic loser. Get pissed. Get righteous. GET QUIT. It only takes a few days. Enjoy the suck of your brain re-wiring as it frees itself from the chains of the addiction you subjected it to for years. Welcome to the new you.
  18. Post your promise to quit dipping today and prove to yourself, and us, that you are committed to being Quit. You found this place for a reason. Methods for quitting chewing tobacco that work are virtually non existent. Fortunately you found a quit method that works. Addiction is about excuses and nothing else when you've buried yourself in it as long as you have. Reach into your back pocket or behind the toilet or under the car seat and pull out that old worn excuse book. Toss that fucker in the toilet and flush. Even that can you were going to keep as a trophy to prove you were strong. Are you one of them sneaky ass ninja dippers... or the guy that had the big ole chaw in spitting between sentences? Either way, you found the right place. Read the intros here. You are not unique or special here - quit and respect are gained by posting your promise daily and pulling your head out. Welcome. Start quitting. 19. Are you here to find people that will support you during this "attempt”... a group that will pick you back up when you “couldn’t get through the day" without a little dip? Think we’re going to pet your head and tell you everything is going to be okay when you fail? Forget it. We don’t accept failure here, and there are no excuses to use nicotine once you find your nuts. Are we going to support you when you need help to deal with all of the "cravings" that ruined your last “attempt" to quit dipping? Yes. And you can do this. But there is no sugar coating this. The next few days will suck... you will feel light-headed, fuzzy, irritable, and tired. You’ve fucked yourself by using nicotine for years and years, and there is only one way out... Quitting Dipping Cold Turkey. Time will inch by, but it will only last a few days, and you have a lot of reading to do around here, so use that stopped clock well. The first few days are rough... we've all been there and know there's no way through it but straight on, head down, brute force. But you can be smart, make a plan and then execute it. Carve out time to exercise, or at least get fresh air and be active. Drink lots of water- it helps flush out the poison. Sunflower Seeds were fantastic for me. Get some fake dip, like Jerky Chew or Smokey Mountain. Give them a try if for no other reason than to put another weapon in your arsenal. The oral fixation withdrawal is something you don’t need compounding the chemical withdrawal of the first 4-5 days. Remember WHY you are quitting dipping. To never be dependent on this stupid weed again, to not need something to level you out, to never be in nicotine withdrawal again, to be free. Stay busy and you'll suddenly have another day of quitting behind you, a day that you can use that as more proof to yourself that this is not just possible, but something you have actually accomplished. Next day- post your promise that you will stay quit, and do it again.
  20. This forum is fairly simple. Commit yourself to quit. Post your daily scroll promise to quit dipping and honor it. The folks here provide encouragement and accountability. Take advantage of the resources here to quit dipping. Close the door on nicotine and step out into the light. Feels good out here. With the tools we have here, you'll quickly understand the difference between quitting dip and stopping dip. This biggest thing for you to focus on right now is posting scroll and staying clean. You can keep your word for a single day, right?? In time, we'll teach you how to not repeat the failures of the past. You will learn to say “Fuck Nicotine” and mean it. Feel free to post in any thread that interests you or send a PM to any of us if you're too shy to throw something up. We've all been where you are and will do anything to help. Here's to being fed up with an addiction that has done nothing but take. Let's kick ass today! Quit Dipping. THE TIME TO QUIT DIPPING IS RIGHT NOW. And the only method for quitting dipping that any of us have ever found to work is quitting cold turkey, with the help of other quitters. The method that we use here. 21. Do you think you are going to "miss" dip, if you quit dipping? Do you feel like dip is your friend, a constant companion? A trusted buddy who is always there for you when you need it? That lucky charm which is always with you in the good times? That kind of thinking is poison when it’s time quit dipping. We call it dip “romancing”. In order to be successful, you have to change your whole mindset. It’s not that hard, because dip romancing is all a lie. Dip isn’t your friend. It’s a parasite. It wasn’t your companion, it was an anchor you were dragging along. It wasn’t there to help any needs... except getting rid of the withdrawal symptoms it’s absence was causing in the first place.. It didn’t make the good times, the good times were in spite of it. How can you control romancing the can after you have quit dipping? Slap yourself across the face every time you think like that, if you need to. No bullshit. That will get real tired, real fast. One of our members talks about dropping down and doing 10 pushups every time he thought about having a dip after he quit dipping. It's called negative reinforcement. It discourages weak thoughts. Other methods... a strong rubber band around your wrist. When you think about chew, you snap that rubber band so hard it hurts. I used to stop whatever I was doing and audibly say "Shut the fuck up". Some guys who have quit chewing tobacco recommended putting your balls in a drawer and slamming it shut. I never tried that one. But how can you spend time here, on a website that is all about how to quit dipping, without thinking about dipping? I am on this site all the time, and I never think about dipping. I think about quitting. They are different things. Guys who think about dipping act like they are missing out when they quit chewing tobacco, and they are going to fail. Guys who think about quitting think about the feelings that drove them to quit in the first place. Whether or not they know it, the biggest thing that drove people to find this place was a desire from freedom. Get the monkey off your back, and quit dipping. 22. When I was 44 years old with three children I was a total slave to nicotine, with a can a day "habit". I was sitting with my wife in a church at a friend's funeral. She was 40 years old with two kids, and a “light smoker” that just passed away from lung cancer. As I watched her husband and two sons stand in front of everyone and talk… I don't remember what they were talking about… I was a mess in the back of that church thinking about what a spoiled, selfish piece of shit I was for continuing to poison myself. I looked at my wife and said, "I'm done. I am quitting dip." "I can't do that to you and the kids." I bought some fake chew and stopped… for about a week. I even found a website that talked about "accountability" and "quitting dipping one day at a time". I looked around. Read some stories and thought, "How can a website and people that I don't even know help me quit dipping?" One of the things I’ve learned since then is that you can’t quit dipping for someone else. I used for another year at the same can a day clip. Every time I bought a can, I said, "This is my last can." I felt more shame, anger and fear with every can I purchased. I knew I had to quit dipping, but honestly did not believe I could. I was sure I'd be dead in 10 years if I continued. I took my last dip after dinner one night. I threw away the can and told my wife I was done. She said, "Whatever. Do it if you want." I've told her I quit dipping so many times that there was no way she believed I would actually quit. Days later I was walking around my house completely confused and feeling like shit. I couldn't focus or remember what I went into a room for. I thought I was going crazy. I searched for help online and found a similar site to the one I scoffed at. Not this time. I had nothing to lose so I dove in. Read everything I could, stared an intro, and started meeting quitters The support I received and continue to receive was overwhelming and still blows me away. Life is great as a quitter. I don't think about dip very often and never romanticize about it. I have fucked a lot of things up in my life. This will not be one of them. When we post on the scroll, we are giving our word not to use for the rest of the day. Sound a little hokey? Yeah, I didn't get it when I started either. It gives you something more to rely on than just willpower. It lets you share some of my willpower, and every other dude on this site. Because we don't dip anymore, and we don't want to. It is the last thing I want, because it will throw away hundreds of days of victory and freedom, just like if you quit dipping today and then use tomorrow you will throw away one of the three toughest days of the whole fucking process. What makes us different, besides posting every morning, is that we have overcome the mistaken belief that dip was helping you enjoy all those good times you’ve had in your life, or that it was helping you get through some of the ordeals at other times. It wasn’t. Just keep this in your mind, NAFAR (NEVER again for ANY reason). It's time to Quit Dipping. No matter what strategy you have employed in the past, we all know it hasn’t worked. This place will. The excuses you have used in the past won’t work here. The temporary withdrawal symptoms of quitting dipping are not going to kill you. We know, because we all survived them. They're actually not that hard to manage if you have the correct mindset. No, you're not more addicted than we were. No, we don't care what brand you used to chew. Yes, you can actually function at work and home without your “crutch” to make you “more relaxed”. The only thing that you need to do to succeed in a 100% effective method of quitting dipping is to show up here every day, listen to the advice of the members, and follow the only two rules we have here.... Post your promise not to dip every morning, and keep your word. If you are ready to quit, go to today's Quit Scroll and post your name and Day 1. Look for messages on the scroll or in your inbox from other dudes who have done this already. Or start an intro, and you can have a centralized place for people to welcome you, offer some advice, or kick your ass when you need it. If you think you are not ready to quit, what are you waiting for?
  23. Last week I looked out my hotel window and saw a woman standing in the street smoking. Just standing there, one arm folded across her stomach, the other holding her cigarette. So sad. So alone. So trapped. Such a waste. Addiction is not a fucking disease. I know it's a disease in the strictest definition of the word, but it's not like Malaria or MS. You decide to put that shit in your body every time. Calling it a disease lets people off the hook. Addiction is serious, it's crippling, it's lethal, but every hit is a choice. I know how politically incorrect that statement is, but I couldn't BECOME QUIT until you dudes helped me understand that ain't nobody gonna help me but me. Addiction is a crisis of character. It's a vacuum of valor. I still remember when that light bulb went off: just stop being such a goddamn pussy and QUIT DIPPING, BITCH. QUIT HARD. That mindset has changed me. It's changed me as a man, husband, father, boss, son, brother. I own every minute of every day. I chose to be strong. I chose to be quit - and being quit means so much more than just not using nicotine. But that's my foundation, my rock every morning - wake, piss, post, commence utter domination. If I can quit dip, I can do anything. THE TIME TO QUIT DIPPING IS RIGHT NOW. And the only method for quitting dipping that any of us have ever found to work is quitting cold turkey, with the help of other quitters. The method that we use here. 25. Ready to quit dipping, and wondering if you can do it? Will it be too hard? Prepare for the worst, and deal with the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal as they come. What is the timeline of quitting dip? I never had anywhere near as much trouble as I did during that first week. I was dealing with insomnia, cold sweats, headaches, etc. That could be down the road for you, or you might find a way to head those symptoms off, whether through exercise, drinking water, or using oral fixation substitutes like hard candy, seeds, or fake chew.
