  1. Like so many here. I spent years telling myself I am going to quit. The day I finally quit was Monday May 3rd. I remember hitting day 9 or 10 and I thought to myself there must be a group of quitters like me that support each other’s quit. Even though I was through the worst of the storm from nicotine withdraw. I felt like I was struggling to continue my quit. I have not been exposed to many success stories with people successfully telling nicotine to fuck off. I had a lot of doubts that I could stay quit due to the information that presented itself. My stepdad quit for a while, but he was back to the can within 8 months. My brothers and sisters all smoke or dip and they have all tried to quit multiple times in the past but never succeeded. Smoking cigarettes killed my dad and countless relatives and family friends. May 13th I posted scroll for the first time. That day I started reading a lot of what this site has to offer. I spent most of my time in graveyard and reading centurion speeches. The more I read the more I realized that fuck yeah, I can stay quit! There may have been bad examples with my immediate family, but this community has quitters with thousands of days and who are still highly engaged. To me this site is a giant library of quit. I appreciate you guys slapping some sense into me early on in my quit. It’s hard to believe its been 100 days! My quit has changed my life for the better in many other ways than just the health gains I am getting from not using nicotine. I’ve always been highly active but never cared to look down at my fork and cared what was going into my big mouth. I now drink a lot of water each day and watch what I’m eating most of the time. I try not to drink as much but let’s be honest I work hard so I don’t mind sometimes having a drink or ten after work. I think my biggest gain is my mental health. I now do not struggle to focus on things at work or just working on projects at the house. I’ve been having more meaningful conversations with my friends and family. I’m sure I could go on and on about all the positive things that have happened to me since quitting nicotine. However, I cannot think of one negative thing that’s happened to me because I quit nicotine. You guys still reading this? With that, I will see you all on the Scroll every damn day!
